Playspace Resources Kit

The Playspace Resource Kit contains information sheets on all aspects of playground safety, of interest to Child Care Centres, Early Childhood educators, schools, local councils and home based carers.

The Kit contains information on the following: Getting Started! safe play hazard checklist, Playground Statistics, Legal Responsibilities, Australian Standards, Safe Play Surfaces, Safe Play Without Hazards, Safe Maintenance, Safe Shade and Plants, Playground Injury, Planning for Outdoor Play, Safe Play Benefits, Safe Play Rules, safe home Play, Non Fixed Play Equipment, Timber Treatment, Sandpits, Bike Tracks, Mounds for Play Equipment, Natural Playspaces and Guidelines on setting up mobile play equipment.

All information incorporates the new Playground Standards - AS 4685: 2004

Planning for Safer Playgrounds: an Industry Guide provides more detailed planning information than that contained in the Kit. Playground owners, operators, or committee members who have been given the task of installing a new playground, or perhaps upgrading an existing playground will find information on who can help, and what services can be provided.

The Industry Guide helps play providers locate suppliers in industry who offer quality services and products related to safe play design, play equipment, construction, maintenance and management of playground environments. Some simple planning steps lead through a series of practical checklists with questions to help you assess the quality of the services or products being offered. Order Form.

Concept Designs for Schools contains a series of concept plans for outdoor spaces, including deck seating, outdoor classroom amphitheatres, boardwalks and outdoor chess. Order Form.

Concept Designs for Early Childhood Services includes a series of concept plans for bike tracks, mound slides, seating, stages, sandpits, dry creek beds, walkways and stepping stones. Order Form.
